I always get a kick out reading articles about so-called public polling initiatives during election time.
Only weirdos answer those things. Only weirdos talk to phone solicitors. Only weirdos . . . whatever.
Anyhoo, apparently Madeline Rogero, whose campaign is riddled with so much inner turmoil right now it’s shaking like a junkie who lost his last fix (from what I’m hearing, anyway), says she’s kicking ass by a 2-to-1 margin over Mark Padgett, who is campaigning on the fact that he can run a city of several thousand employees, since he can runs his own business which has a grand total of about two. (That’s with a plus or minus 10-person margin.)
Here’s the Rogero story right smack here.
In the meantime, “vote for me because I’m the best looking and I promise I’m not a Republican” Padgett’s spin doc (Laura Braden) released another tired cliché from her camp, quoting Padgett as saying that his polling numbers put him only seven points behind Rogero.
Whatever. Seven, 7,000 or 7 million. You’re behind. Coming in second just means you’re the first loser.
By the way, here’s another quote from Padgett’s spin doc that says little or nothing: "I’m the only candidate with a plan to create jobs and economic growth, and the experience needed to move Knoxville forward.”
I mean WTH does that mean? Does that mean the current governor - in his seven or eight or how many years as mayor moved us backward? Whatever. Don't answer that. Just give us some real examples, slick, instead of this Ragsdale-like drivel.
“I’m the only candidate with a plan” to blah, blah, blah.
Man, I’m going to laugh my ass off if Ivan Harmon wins this thing from his hospital bed and the $5 he’s raised so far. (Laugh even harder if either Bo Bennett and Joe Hultquist wins. Heh.)
The nonpartisan primary election is Sept. 27.
Do yourself a favor and just write in my name.
Update: Rogero has a 2-1 lead over Ivan - not Padgett - according to her latest pollings. My bad.
second place is not the first loser if it is a run off. the thing i remind everyone is only idiots do polling. sorry but it is true. the reality is they spend thousands of dollars scores of hours on polling and 3 different polls three different numbers...oops that was a waste of resources. i remind everyone that stacey campfield allegedly polled bad in steve hill's polling. Well end of the day stacey won. moral of the story spend your polling resources in advertising and mailing and you will be way better off. now as for what this poll does it only motivates the anti rogero camp to go out and vote. think about it you got the padgett and harmon people now more motivated and people who are on the fence really wondering if they want rogero. spend money on ads not irrelivant polls. on a side note tell evil empire KNS that since statistically bo bennett is equal in polling his ass should be allowed to debate. tell jackie or jackie jr if jack mcelroy doesnt gain a set of balls and answer my post i will ask him in person and on camera and make him look like the small coward he appears to be.
ReplyDeleteThe Knoxville Chamber, which organized the event, limited participants to candidates who had raised at least $10,000. KNS had nothing to do with it. Padgett and Rogero surpassed that goal long ago. Hultquist barely reached it. Bennett didn't come close.
ReplyDeleteKNS is a sponsor and lending their name and their credibility...
ReplyDeletezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I hear the inner turmoil is in the Padgett campaign, not Rogero's.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Bennett was not equal to Hultquist in the polling. Hultquist had 4% to Bennett's 1%. That means they're neither serious challengers, but it also means that Hultquist at least polls a bit better than Bennett.
Rogero released all her polling data, including her pollster's phone number, so double-checking her numbers and inspecting the questions and couble-checking the margin of error and confidence level would be so easy a Hornback could do it.
ReplyDeleteContrast that to Padgett, who tells you what his alleged numbers are, but won't show them. the "trust-me" method.
He has, btw, spouted considerably different numbers to people he's been trying to woo during the past week. the boy can't keep his story straight.
And Donilla, you've never covered the city, right? Maybe you'd look smarter if you confined your blogging to subjects you know something about. It's Padgett who's run off a whole campaign staff, not Rogero.
oh, i know exactly what i'm talking about, and i never sais rogero has "run off a whole campaign staff."
ReplyDeleteHow many staff departures has Padgett had? I know one left in March, which threw a lot into turmoil.
ReplyDeleteMike you hit a nerve. Progressive Rogero will fund all Non-profits with our tax dollars which means higher taxes. If she gets elected she will start the Ten Year plan back up and put Homeless housing in every neighborhood. Permanate supportive housing can not be stainable, there are no more section 8 housing vouchers left. Minvilla has been open for almost a year and has only put 20 people in there and it holds 57 and non are from the streets they are from another section 8 apartment complex.
ReplyDeleteSo just tell us who left Madeline's team... easy.
ReplyDelete"If she gets elected she will start the Ten Year plan back up and put Homeless housing in every neighborhood. "
ReplyDeleteShow me one place where Madeline said any such thing. I can wait while you look it up.....
She has said that she still supports the Ten Year Plan. She attended most of the public meeting when the Ten Year Plan was not stopped and telling people that were there to express their opposition to the plan that they were wrong and that they needed to do their part to help.I know because I was at these meeting.
ReplyDelete"She has said that she still supports the Ten Year Plan."
ReplyDeleteNot true. Bring me a reference; you can't.
She DOES believe we need to address the homeless problem, and that PSH should be a component of that. That's NOT the same thing as supporting the TYP. I share her views, and I think the TYP was a god-awful mismanaged mess that should have been put out of its misery a long time before it was.
PSH was the part of the Ten Year Plan that would not work and is what the citizens had a problem with. PSH is not sustainable. I believe we need to do something about the homeless issue but we need to have transitutional housing that is tied to job training and set that they leave the program after two years. I support a hand up not a hand out. If she supports PSH then she still supports the Ten Year Plan.
ReplyDeleteAlso PSH in the Ten Year Plan has already cost us almost $16 million in the two apartment buildings and we only have 20 people in Minvilla and non have been from off the street. We can not house the homeless because no more section 8 vouchers unless the city funds their rent, utilities, food, and whatever else they need for housing. We do not have the money unless we raise taxes.
ReplyDeleteHow long before the picture of Rogero and Cesar Chavez in handcuffs floats up?
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about that, never have seen it or knew that there was one.
ReplyDeleteProbably about when pix of the impoverished young Padgett driving to school in his Covette "White Lightnin' emerge.
