Hillside amendment to be revisited?

Now did anyone really believe the hillside issue would go away once the county commission approved the plan? Yeah, didn't think so.

During Monday's meeting, Commissioner Tony Norman noted that he's “trying to get a reconsideration of that amendment,” referring to a change initiated by Commissioner Richard Briggs and signed off by the board in November.

Briggs on Monday said “there's been a lot of misunderstanding about the intentions of the amendment" and again noted that he asked for it so that developers and the public would be guaranteed an appeals process.

Some, however, say the wording is superfluous.

I don't know. I quit caring in November when they supposedly passed this thing for the last time.
It's like a bad movie villain.

And it returns next Monday.

  1. If you thought it passed in November for the last time, you didn't understand the process.

In November Commission initiated a new plan, with the Briggs amendment but also other changes from last summer's discussion.

As a matter of state law, zoning matters must be ruled on by MPC. Since this was a new plan that MPC had not voted on, it had to to to them.

Then it had to come back to Commission for a final vote. That's what is happening now, and it's always what was gonna happen.

  2. I know that part, but I was crossing my fingers that the commission would rubber stamp the final vote.
