Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett will hold a re-election kickoff party on Feb. 18 at Lighthouse Knoxville from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This is a pretty bad a$$ place. It's located at 6800 Baum Drive.
From what I understand, a more formal announcement will go out either later tonight or tomorrow. The event will cost $50 a person (per plate, I believe, or "suggested contributions"), although Burchett is inviting county employees as guests.
The mayor has released the names on his host committee and it's freakin' long, and there are a lot of major players on it. You can find it, right smack here. Burchett also notes that his first campaign promise "is that there will be no speeches at the event."
So far, no one has even bothered to pick up a nominating petition to run against Burchett, and he's not expected to get any serious challenger. The county Republican Primary is set for May with a general election in August.
